Recognizing the critical importance of education to continued long term growth in American vision, The Social Graces™ has launched the Young American Artist TRIBUTE™ Scholarship program. There are four (4) awards of $2,500 each for outstanding art and design high school students for Fall 2009.

Applicant Eligibility
   
1 U.S. Citizen
2 High school senior admitted to and planning to enroll in a four-year college or university art program, or an AICAD or NASAD accredited four-year art school in Fall 2009. (See list of art schools below)
3 A declared major in one of the visual arts for Fall 2009; includes painting, drawing, sketching, printmaking, ceramics, still photography, graphic design, animation/cartooning, glass making, sculpture.
4 Cumulative 3.0 or higher high school GPA (7 semester official High School Transcript)
5 Demonstrate financial need (eligible for Pell Grant)
   
Applicant Requirements
   
1 Completed online TRIBUTE™ Scholarship Application form
2 Write a 250 word Artist Statement, see online Application, defining your artistic goals and describing an American artist you admire.
3 Electronic portfolio, not to exceed 10MG, including five (5 ONLY) samples of your original art work downloaded via PDF or PowerPoint to the online Application. Each submitted work must include its title, medium, dimensions, year completed.
4 Official 7 semester High School Transcript - mail in
5 High school counselor Financial Need form with signature verifying Pell Grant eligibility or participation in free or reduced school lunch program (the student may not have been awarded a Pell Grant by the time the application is due.  By verifying the family income or the EFC in the FAFSA the counselor can know if the student is eligible even before the student is awarded).
6 Letter of Recommendation from one (1) art teacher, counselor, or administrator familiar with applicant's artistic qualifications - mail in
7 Proof of Enrollment for Fall 2009 and declared major - mail in

  Late August   Award checks issued to scholarship winners upon presentation of proof of enrollment (class registration) and indication of declared major to the TRIBUTE Scholarship Headquarters (address above).

Award Information
 
Four Scholarship Awards, $2500 each for Fall 2009.
Awards are competitive and based on the overall quality of the application and adherence to eligibility and requirements set forth by the TRIBUTE™ Scholarship Advisory Committee.
The Young American Artist TRIBUTE™ Scholarship is funded by The Social Graces™, Inc. Proceeds from the TRIBUTE™ American gift collection contribute to the scholarship program.  
 
Qualifying Schools
 
Eligible Applicants must attend traditional four-year colleges or universities offering visual arts majors, or any of the following art schools that qualify as members of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) or The National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
